Mark Britton (born September 17, 1958 in Rinteln , Lower Saxony ) is a British comedian , author , director and presenter who has been living in Germany for over twenty years .

Life

Mark Britton grew up as the son of an English psychoanalyst and an American actress in Basingstoke , England. After graduating from high school, he worked for two years as an actor at Brighton City Theater and one year as an English teacher in Sudan, studied psychology at Sussex University and acting, pantomime and clowning in London and Paris .

In 1984 he founded the comedy duo Nickelodeon with Krissie Illing . After years of world tour, the duo settled in Germany in the early 1990s and celebrated further successes with the pieces " Christmas Dinner for Two " and " Great Lovers in History " written by Mark . After a six-year break, a new production of " Great Lovers in History " started in Hamburg in 2005 . Nickelodeon has appeared in a variety of TV shows over the years, including B. at the 3sat Kleinkunstfestival , in Jürgen von der Lippe presents Nickelodeon (ARD), in the Comedy Club (ARD) and in the NDR talk show .

Since 1995, Mark Britton has been touring Germany with various solo programs in British stand-up comedy style in German (first program: Comedy Solo ). In his other programs Apachen à Go-Go (1998) and Wildlife (2005–2008) he combined stand-up comedy with the genres of theater and visual theater. After publishing his book An Englishman in Cologne , Mark toured the country in 2005 and 2006 with a mixture of reading and stand-up comedy. Since his Home at Britton program, which premiered in 2009, Mark has successfully combined cabaret with British stand-up in a variety of programs that revolve around the normal craziness of everyday life.

He was on television with his solo programs a. a. with room free! , the Quatsch Comedy Club and Ottis Schlachthof .

In 2000, Mark Britton staged the piece " Heaven ", which he wrote, at the Renaissance Theater Berlin . In March 2006 he toured with the 3 Gentlemen , a joint New Variety program with Steve Rawlings and Ken Bardowicks , across Germany. In the summer of 2008 he wrote and staged the play " Ein Feierabend für Eltern " (Premiere: September 3, 2008 in the Fliegende Bauten , Hamburg) together with the two Cave (wo) man artists Felix Theissen and Ramone Krönke .

As moderator, he led already by various productions of the winter garden , the Apollo - variety shows and the Hansa Theater . Mark also appears at various galas (e.g. by Jaguar and SAP ).

In addition to his solo programs and group productions, Mark Britton wrote the books for several comedy specials and TV series for various German TV channels. Some of them also acted and directed (e.g. Sissi Perlinger 's One Woman Show (2005), Wiseguys, Springmaus).
