The Leonids are a indie rock - band from Kiel , playing together in its present formation since, 2015. In 2017 they released their debut album of the same name, Leoniden , to which the band followed up in November 2018 with their second studio album Again .

history

The band started as a school band with the brothers Lennart (guitar) and Felix Eicke (drums) as well as Djamin Izadi (synthesizer) and JP Neumann (bass), at that time still under the name Leoniden Cabaret . Jakob Amr (vocals) only joined the band in 2015, who moved to Kiel especially for the band and was previously guitarist and singer of the band Zinnschauer .

First the band released their EP Invert India on the Hamburg label Delikatess Tonträger . After the label had ceased operations, the band quickly founded their own label called Two Peace Signs . There she released her second EP with the new singer, which bears the name of the label. With their first album Leoniden , which they marketed in full self-distribution, the Kiel-based company attracted increasing attention. In addition to the extraordinary presence at live performances, this is also due to the great closeness to the fans via various social media channels and after the performances. Due to their above-average success, they managed to cooperate with Landstreicher Booking, where the Kraftklub and KIZ are also under contract.

reception

Plattentests.de awarded eight out of ten stars for their debut album and praised the fact that “in every groove of this record you can hear talent and exuberant self-confidence of a young group, for whom the most powerful meteor storm is just enough to give their name”. Musikreviews.de got 11 out of 15 points, Pretty in Noise awarded 6.5 out of 10. Musikreviews called the second studio album Again “Indie Rock with an emphasis on 'Rock'” and again awarded 11 out of 15 points, as with the debut album Leoniden 2017. Pretty in Noise gave 8 out of 10 points this time and wrote: “An album title could not have been more fitting.” Festivalstalker gave the record a 7.8 out of 10 and wrote regarding the genre differences on the debut: “It looks as if it has Band found their rail ”.
