KIZ is a German hip-hop - Formation of Berlin that since the closure of the Berlin record label Royal Bunker at Universal Music is under contract. It consists of the rappers Tarek , Maxim and Nico .

style

The hallmarks of the group are satirical, sexist , provocative texts. Strong exaggerations are typical, for example in the form of parodies of other rappers , people or the hip-hop genre itself. KIZ opposes current German politics and phenomena such as star airs (we are now stars) or life in the precariat (free his RMX).

The KIZ- MCs were briefly represented in the Reimliga Battle Arena (RBA). Tarek called himself "son-in-law", Maxim "stepfather" and Nico "warm brother".

After the founding of KIZ , their first street album Das RapDeutschlandKettensägeMassaker was released on May 9, 2005 as part of the Royal Bunker Street Offensive . Her mixtape Böhse Enkelz was released on February 17, 2006 . The sound carrier was also released as a 2-CD limited edition; on the second CD there is a screwed & chopped version of the first album. In August 2006, KIZ went on tour in Germany together with the Bloodhound Gang . At the beginning of 2007, KIZ Kollegah , DJ Zettt and Prinz Pi accompanied the ! DonnerwetteR! -Trip.

At Rock am Ring 2007, KIZ were supposed to perform at the aftershow party. However, they were unloaded at short notice because the lyrics of the band were too offensive in the opinion of a sponsor. But the band didn’t miss the performance and rapped the following year (June 5, 2008) from the roof of a bus at campsite C2. Playing hip-hop at a rock festival was viewed as a provocation by some fans and responded to by throwing beer cans.

On August 17, 2007, KIZ was the thematic focus of an XXL edition of the MTV show Urban TRL . In addition to an interview, the band also performed live and presented their first single, Geld essen . The video for the song Ellenbogengesellschaft (Pogen) could already be selected at TRL in July . After appearing in the TRL Most Wanted several times with the video about eating money , they reached number 1 on the TRL charts on August 23, 2007. In the show Urban TRL , their highest ranking so far was 3rd place. On August 21, the Berliners were guests on the hip-hop show MTV Urban . KIZ made the cover of Backspin Hip Hop magazine in August .

On August 20, 2007 the band held a concert under the motto "Reclaim your U-Bahn" in front of the Schlesisches Tor subway station in Kreuzberg . Between 8:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. the responsible police officers tried to break up the event, which was attended by around 1,000 people. The policemen had come in personnel carriers and armed with riot gear. There were eight arrests in total. Originally, the band wanted to play the concert in a subway car. This was prevented by the closure of the underground station by the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe . KIZ then moved the illegal concert in front of the subway station.

On August 24, 2007 their first real album Hahnenkampf was released , which is distributed with the help of Universal and landed at number 9 on the album charts. In the summer of 2007 KIZ were on the Raus aus dem Körper, Rein in den Club - Tour in Germany, Austria and Switzerland . The opening act for the 2008 tour was The dead crack whores in the trunk . In the video for the song Eating Money , two homosexual men can be seen kissing in a scene. According to their own statements, this should be a personal statement against homophobia in hip-hop.

In 2008 the Berlin group was nominated for the Echo Music Prize in the video category nationally . From March 20, 2008 to April 19, 2008 KIZ were on tour. This ran under the title One has to do it tour. At some concerts, the group was accompanied by hip-hop musicians DJ Reckless and Corus 86 . In addition, the Turntable Hools, a DJ duo made up of KIZ members DJ Craft and Nico, performed at all concerts.

From the album Hahnenkampf, the song Neuruppin , which is a cover version of The Animals classic The House of the Rising Sun , was released as the last single in June 2008 . The text is about murder and cannibalism against women. The video for the song was released in June 2008 together with Kubikfoto³ as an interactive music video. In the lyrics a reference was made to the deeds of Carl Großmann ; The group was allegedly unaware of the parallels between the lyrics and Grossmann's crimes.

In 2008 Nico recorded the song Porn from Spain with the metalcore band Callejon for their album Zombieactionhauptquartier .

On July 10, 2009, the album Sexismus gegen Rechts was released . The album criticizes, mostly ironic, grievances in society, politics and the economy.

In April 2010, work began on the new album Urlaub fürs Kirchen , which aims to tie in with the sound aesthetics of cockfighting. For this reason, the Munich-based Tai Jason, who is also responsible for the recordings in his studio, was hired again as producer. Holiday for the Brain was released on June 3, 2011 and entered the German charts at number 4.

On International Women's Day 2012, as in the previous year, the band gave a concert in Kreuzberg that was only allowed to be attended by women. Such a concert on International Women's Day was given again in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017. In 2018 the band went on tour in several German cities as well as once in Austria and Switzerland, whereby the concerts on this tour were reserved exclusively for a female audience.

They were also on tour with Die Ärzte in 2012 as the opening act .

In January 2013, KIZ and Berlin rapper Flexis released the song Strahlemann und Söhne on 16bars.de, which can be found on his album Egotrips .

In June 2013 they released their new video Ich bin Adolf Hitler . The song is included on the mixtape Ganz oben , which was released on July 9, 2013. In the video for Ich bin Adolf Hitler , the German-Jewish comedian Oliver Polak plays Adolf Hitler .

On April 24, 2015, KIZ announced that their fifth studio album, Hurra die Welt geht unter , would be released on July 10, 2015. In terms of style, it will be more serious than the previous albums and mixtapes, no longer consist of different tracks thrown together, but rather be oriented towards a topic like a concept album . The end of the world will not be rated negatively as the end, but rather stand for a new beginning, a revolution.

On February 24, 2017, the satirical hit lucky was published on YouTube under the name Die Schwarzwälder Kirschtorten . Issues such as sex tourism in Thailand and drug trafficking in South America are addressed.

In February 2018, KIZ announced that their disc jockey DJ Craft and the three other musicians would go their separate ways from the upcoming tour.

In mid-August 2018 the members of KIZ released the album Wo die wilden Kerleen under pseudonyms, together with some other artists, as a Verbales Style collective . Before that (since 2013) some songs were released under this name. The album is in the style of 1990s hip-hop.

Political commitment

In February 2010, KIZ called for participation in the anti-fascist demonstration Dresden Naziffrei with a YouTube video . On March 8, 2011 it was announced that Maxim and Nico were running as the top candidates for Die PARTTEI in Berlin's Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district for the election to the Berlin House of Representatives in September 2011 . In 2016 they were the top candidates for Die PARTTEI for the election to the Berlin House of Representatives in 2016 . You ran again in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.

On September 3, 2018 they played alongside Feine Sahne Fischfilet , Kraftklub and Die Toten Hosen at a concert against racism and xenophobia in Chemnitz under the motto “ We are more ”. The background of the event was the killing of a German-Cuban man in Chemnitz, which had led to radical right-wing riots and an anti-Semitic attack on a Jewish restaurant in the city. The content glorifying violence in the opinion of some observers was considered inappropriate by the Basler Zeitung , which is why the event itself was described as great hypocrisy:

Meaning of the name

The band themselves often assign different meanings to the supposed abbreviation KIZ . Common names include cannibals in civilian clothes , artists in straight jackets , war criminals in prison , carrots, ginger and onions or crusaders in Central Asia ; among other things, in the songs Rosenbusch feat. Rhymin Simon and vigilante justice spoken by convent students in celibacy . You use the username KannibalenInZivil on your Myspace page .

KIZ rapper Maxim said in a humorous autobiography that sprayers made up the letters because they "sound so aggressive" . In an interview with the BerlinBlock, KIZ again stated that they have had the name since their sprayer career, where it "only had an embarrassing English meaning".

(Bourgeois: Maxim Drüner) He has French roots and speaks fluent French, which he flaunts in his part in dance . Maxim grew up in Berlin-Kreuzberg . He started rapping with Tarek even before KIZ. In his texts and in interviews he sometimes calls himself The White Giant because of his size . Like his band partner Nico, Maxim was a PARTY candidate for the Berlin House of Representatives in 2011 . At a congress of the SDS in 2012 he discussed with the rapper Sookee about images of women, sexism and homophobia in hip-hop.

Nico

(Civil: Nico Seyfrid) Nico grew up in Berlin-Hermsdorf and started rapping at the age of 15. His career, for which he broke off his sociology studies, only began with the establishment of KIZ. It used to be called Euro8000, but since the artist Euroboy - guitarist of the Norwegian death punk band Turbonegro  - is wearing an SS plate cap, he took his real name as his artist name to avoid confusion. He also works together with his partner Grzegorz Olszówka - formerly the front man of the Berlin scene band ArEt  - as a producer duo Wass Bass . Wass Bass produce some beats for KIZ tracks, sometimes remix them and produce their own techno tracks with which they occasionally appear as opening act for KIZ. In December 2012 the duo released their first album, “The Germans from the Future”. In 2012 Nico also appeared under the pseudonym “Fledermausmann” together with Kraftklub at the 15th Splash Festival in Ferropolis near Graefenhainichen. On Das RapDeutschlandKchensägeMassacre it was still under Euro or Euro 2000.

DJ Craft

(civil: Sil-Yan Bori) Sil-Yan was born on January 25, 1985 in Berlin and has Hungarian roots. He started DJing at the age of 13 . At his concerts he plays a combination of funk , hip-hop , drum and bass and dancehall . He also uses other styles such as Soca , Klezmer , Samba , Bhangra and Gypsy. At the same time as the founding of KIZ, the jazz / hip-hop group SEK (Subground Entertainment Kombinat) was formed, in which he also acted as a DJ. He is also a member of the Berlin sound system Body Rock. With the DJs Mad Milian and Philipp, reggae , hip-hop and dancehall styles are in the foreground. The DJ also works with the Nu-Metal band Instead . In 2003 he was hired as a DJ for the klezmer punk hip hop band Rotfront . Since the summer of 2010, DJ Craft has also been working intensively with the Drunken Masters , with whom KIZ has already been on tour. In February 2018, KIZ and DJ Craft separated.
