The mini-rock festival was a 2005-2018 year in Horb am Neckar held each summer rock festival . The festival was organized in advance by a completely voluntary team for around 10,000–12,000 visitors annually and had a financial volume of more than 300,000 euros. More than 350 volunteers worked at the festival itself.
Emergence
On the occasion of a youth forum organized by the city of Horb on May 7, 2004, at which young people from Horb were asked to present ideas for improving leisure activities, several young people from Horb between the ages of 14 and 23 founded the “Mini-Rock-Festival” association Horb am Neckar eV ”, which is still the organizer of the mini rock festival. An independent management consultant offers himself as a "project sponsor" and helps the team in the beginning. To this day, the festival is still organized entirely on a voluntary basis, despite the enormous increase in size.
One of the declared goals of the association is to conduct active youth work in the Horb area and to introduce young people to professional processes.

After a financial loss of 25,000 euros in the first year with exclusively German bands and the headliners Donots and 4Lyn , a profit was made in 2006 with international headliners such as Backyard Babies , Blackmail and La Vela Puerca . In addition, that year the organizing team was really good for the prize awarded annually by the state government of Baden-Württemberg ! Nominated honorary post in Baden-Württemberg . In the vote, the team came fourth out of more than 1,000 applicants. While there were 2,000 visitors to the square in the first year, the number of visitors increased continuously in the following years. In 2007 the festival with the headliners ... And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead , The Busters and Ignite was sold out for the first time at the box office with 5,000 visitors. This also succeeded in the two following years with a constant increase in space capacity. In 2008 7,000 visitors came to see bands like Madsen , Volbeat and Johnossi , in 2009 8,000 visitors came and saw Enter Shikari , KIZ and Panteón Rococó , among others . In 2010 the Mini-Rock-Festival moved from the old venue on the Horber Festplatz to the Ihlinger Neckarwiesen . This was necessary because the old space was occupied due to the Horber green project and will only be available in significantly reduced capacity in the future and so cannot keep up with the growth in visitors to the mini rock festival. The organizing team welcomed 10,000 visitors to the headliners Fettes Brot , The Sounds , Johnossi and Life of Agony .
In 2011, the mini rock festival moved again to new premises in the Horber industrial area . Over 8,000 visitors saw bands such as Hot Water Music , Friska Viljor , Shantel & Bucovina Club Orkestar and Casper there . In 2012 the mini rock festival took place in the Horber industrial area. On August 3rd & 4th, 10,000 visitors saw bands like KIZ , boysetsfire , Kraftklub or Cro again . For the first time in its history, the festival was completely sold out in advance.
In 2013 the Mini-Rock-Festival took place again like in the first 5 years on the Horber Festplatz in the Neckar Valley. In order to accommodate the rapidly growing number of visitors, the campsite was extended to the eastern side of the Neckar for the first time. More than 9,000 visitors saw Jennifer Rostock , Prinz Pi , Irie Révoltés and 19 other bands. For the tenth anniversary in 2014, which also took place on the fairground in the Neckar valley, around 10,000 visitors saw Anti-Flag , SDP , Zebrahead , Trailerpark and Maxim, among others . In 2015, 12,000 visitors saw Trailerpark, Royal Republic , Genetikk , Kvelertak and Heisskalt, among others . In 2016 there were again 12,000 visitors to bands like Madsen , Die Orsons , MoTrip and Moop Mama . The mini rock festival was again visited by 12,000 visitors in 2017, with 22 bands playing, including Enter Shikari , MoTrip, 257ers , Feine Sahne Fischfilet and Eskimo Callboy .
In 2018 the organizers announced that they would not continue the festival after 2018. The reasons are the voluntary workload, which can no longer be handled, and an increasing planning uncertainty regarding the site. For the final 2018 edition, the organizational team with the headliners Prinz Pi , Donots , Käptn Peng & Die Tentakel von Delphi and Faber counted more than 12,000 visitors.
In 2005 and 2006 the entire festival lasted two days and ran from Friday to Saturday. In the following two years, 2007 and 2008, the festival was opened on Thursday evenings with a warm-up party with DJs and the bands continued to play on Friday and Saturday. In 2009 the program was extended to three days for the first time and four bands played on the first evening, followed by DJs. In 2010, the Audiolith horse market with chips stall and hall protection opened the festival on Thursday. After three bands played on Thursday in 2011, the 2012 festival opened with a flunkyball tournament before the traditional DJs once again entertained the audience. Since 2013, following the Flunkyball tournament, the “Mini-Rock-Festival-Live-Karaoke” has taken place, in which the visitors sing karaoke on stage to the accompaniment of a band.
In 2012, 2013 and 2015, the Mini-Rock-Festival was nominated for the European Festival Awards in the Best Small Festival category, but it went empty at the awards ceremony as part of the Eurosonic Noorderslag -Festival in Groningen .
