Johnossi [ jɔnˈɔsi ] is a Swedish indie and alternative rock band from Stockholm . It consists of John Engelbert (* 1982) and Oskar "Ossi" Bonde (* 1979). The band name results from the two first names John and Ossi.
Band history
The two friends had the idea of founding a band with them several years before the actual formation. They cite laziness as the main reason for this time lag. Characteristic for the style of the band is a raw, dirty sound mix, which they mainly present at live concerts.
After the foundation they toured together with The Soundtrack of Our Lives through Scandinavia and brought in 2005, their first, self-titled album themselves out what the next year in Germany , Austria and Switzerland appeared.
In 2006 they had their own tour and also supported Mando Diao and Razorlight . At the beginning of 2007 they toured all over Germany alone. Many of these events were sold out. In 2007 they were the opening act for Sportfreunde Stiller . In early March 2008 they played the single Execution Song for the soundtrack of the movie Die Welle . The song can also be heard in the video game NHL 09 . In June 2011 they appeared as the opening act for Beatsteaks in Berlin's Wuhlheide .
Their second album All They Ever Wanted was released on March 28, 2008 and brought them to the charts for the first time in Germany. The third album Mavericks was released on April 30, 2010.
The fourth album Transitions was released on March 22, 2013 . In autumn 2013 the band played an extensive headlining tour through Europe.
In private, John and Oskar each have a wife and child. John has a son and Oskar has a daughter.
