The eleven members of Hoffmaestro met in Stockholm in the 1990s and wrote their first songs that combined the different musical backgrounds of the band members. In 2005 they released the film Stockholm Boogie , for which they wrote the script and the soundtrack. The movie's theme song was Desperado , a later single by the band. In the following years two EPs were released and the video for the single Young Dad , released in 2006, was nominated for a Grammis . In 2008 the album The Storm was released. The single Highway Man from the same album did not become successful until 2010, but reached double platinum status by 2012 .

After the band toured extensively in 2009 and 2010 and became the most touring band in Sweden in 2010, the album skank-a-tronicpunkadelica was released in October 2010 . In 2010, the first album The Storm was the third most played album in Sweden on Spotify behind the current albums by Lady Gaga and Eminem .
