Ghost of Tom Joad was a post-punk band from Münster, founded in 2006 . In January 2012 they announced their dissolution.

history

Ghost of Tom Joad was founded on February 16, 2006. The band name comes from the song The Ghost of Tom Joad by Bruce Springsteen , which was also covered by Junip . Your debut EP Is This What You Call a Fronterlebnis? was sold at the concerts and on the homepage. On February 8, 2008, the debut album No Sleep Until Ostkreuz was released . The second album Matterhorn followed on February 6, 2009, which is rather dark compared to its predecessor.

In October of the founding year they played as the opening act for The Lost Patrol Band and Madsen . They also played with Maxïmo Park , Coheed and Cambria , Kettcar , Tomte , Samiam , Mando Diao , State Radio and toured with Muff Potter , whose guitarist Dennis Scheider took over the management and production of Ghost of Tom Joad.

On January 13, 2012, the band announced the breakup after four farewell concerts in April 2012 via their label Richard Mohlmann Records and via Facebook with a YouTube video.

style

According to producer Dennis Scheider, the band said "imagine Elliott Smith , Marvin Gaye and Ian MacKaye had founded the Einstürzende Neubauten " ( official band biography ). The Visions wrote, "They draw the powerful from punk , the dynamic from the New Wave " ( Dennis Plauk : Visions No. 180).
