Lady (2016)

Dame (born February 10, 1990 in Salzburg ; actually Michael Zöttl ) is an Austrian rapper , singer and songwriter who became known for his rap songs on the subject of computer games , but also turns to other topics.

Career

Dame is a former member of the Salzburg rap crew Sentinels , which was founded in 2007 , but has been releasing his albums since 2009 solo or in collaboration with Golo, who is a crew member of Sentinels . In July 2011, he uploaded a music video entitled 12 million on the video platform YouTube , in which he raps to scenes from the computer game World of Warcraft . The play has been viewed over 16 million times. He then produced a second rap song for the game Call of Duty , in which he also built the classic Over the Rainbow . The video was discontinued in February 2012. This second song Pave Low was released as a commercial single in March 2012 due to the high number of hits and reached chart positions in Austria and Germany. Overall, the video got over 33 million clicks (views), a remix got more than 2 million clicks on YouTube.

The album Herz gegen Fame was released in March 2012 . This album contains melancholy songs, but also typical elements of battle rap . In December 2012, the album Followed me , the Dame released on his newly founded label Damestream Records . However, both albums did not make it into the official German charts. In the summer of 2013, he released the album Jetzt wird zockt , which contains all the songs about computer games that he had published up to that point.

The music video for the song Auf die guten alten Zeiten , which he published on YouTube on November 14, 2013 and which is about television series from his childhood, has now received over 35 million views.

In January 2014, Dame announced his next album entitled Rap is his Hobby , which was released on April 4, 2014. Shortly thereafter, he announced a tour called The Tea Time Tour through Austria and Germany, which took place in May 2014. Due to the success, another tour called The Tea Time Tour Part 2 took place.

In January 2015, the single Sentinel was released , in which the computer game Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the theme. At the Amadeus Awards 2015 , Dame was nominated for the first time for an award for the most important Austrian music award in the Hip Hop / Urban category.

Also in 2015, on August 14th, his album Lebendig buried was released . This is his first concept album , with a total of 17 tracks, with one part of the album expressing the theme of living and the other part expressing the theme of buried . In addition, in the course of the new album, Dame announced his one of you tour , which began on October 29th in Ravensburg and ended on December 18th, 2015 in his hometown Salzburg. He extended the tour due to the success until July 30, 2016. In September 2016, the album Street Musician was released .

On November 15, 2017 he announced his tour "Out of Time" or "Zukunftsmusik-Tour" for 2017, which was continued in 2018 due to the massive success.

On November 7th, 2018 he announced his tour "Z% #!" (Zeus) and a new album for 2019. The tour to the work of the same name "Zeus", which was released on September 6, 2019, began the week after it was released and, according to the company, already broke several own records during the advance booking. The successful Zeus tour was continued in 2020, but had to be interrupted after 13 played dates shortly before admission in Bielefeld due to Covid-19 measures and the remaining dates postponed to 2021.

During the quarantine period, Dame devoted herself to various projects together with the internationally successful producer Johannes Herbst and announced his latest release, the Rock EP, for August 28, 2020.

Trivia

Zöttl is a great-great-great-great-grandson of Franz Gruber , the composer of the Christmas carol Silent Night, Holy Night .
