Urte Steinberg

Urte Steinberg (* 9. October 1958 in Pinneberg ) is a German non-party politician . She is the mayor of Pinneberg.

Life

Steinberg attended the Theodor-Heuss-Schule in Pinneberg and, after graduating from high school in 1977, began training as a bank clerk at Sparkasse Südholstein . She now held various positions within the Sparkasse, including in branch business, in the credit area, in controlling and in multi-project management. During this time, she also completed further training as a savings bank economist. In 1998 she became head of department in the board of directors at (today's) Sparkasse Südholstein. Steinberg was a member of the Board of Directors of Sparkasse Südholstein for 13 years.

On November 11, 2012, the independent Steinberg was elected mayor of Pinneberg in a direct election with 57.46% of the vote. She had been nominated as a joint candidate by the CDU and SPD . Steinberg succeeds Kristin Alheit (SPD), who resigned in 2012 before the end of her term of office to become Minister of Social Affairs of Schleswig-Holstein. The First City Councilor Klaus Seyfert (CDU) has been in charge of official business since then. Steinberg became mayor in January 2013.

Steinberg has two grown children.
