Band history

Transmitter emerged in January 2000 from the formation Psynostics , which was already active at the beginning of the electronic wave that emerged in the 1990s. The band initially consisted of Mo Heidrich, René Laroche ( bass ) and Michael Lichtblau (drums). A little later the English singer and MC Jeff Ogle completed the group. After the first concerts, René Laroche left the band for private reasons. His interpretation of the bass game to electronic music, however, continued to shape the music of the band. There was no re-recording of a bass player. At the same time, they moved into studios in Hanover. Due to the contact with the Berlin label Timing Recordings , especially with Armin Mostoffi, which still existed from the days of Psynostics, the band organized the first Germany-wide tour in 2001.

Between 2000 and 2003, around 100 concerts were played without a record label or booking agency . Transmitter received support on stage from 2002 onwards from Martin Hauck, who expanded the band spectrum with his video projections. In that year, Armin Mostoffi made contact with the Berlin producer JA Skutnik ( Nitribeat ). In the following two years the sound and the arrangement of the band were further developed in his studio in Berlin-Kreuzberg .

In November 2004 the debut album Pop Hooligan was released in cooperation with Skutnik, who shortly after moved to London, which led to the end of the collaboration. The single Westside Criminal was released for the album , with a video playing on the Teufelsberg in Berlin, which is no longer accessible today .

A club tour through Germany followed at the end of 2004. This tour continued in the summer of 2005 in Great Britain, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. After the tour, work began on the second album i see red , which was released in April 2007. Before that, the single No.1 was released in March of the same year . In 2007 Stefan Bielesch took over the role of drummer on Michael Lichtblau's summer tour for professional reasons. This tour took the band again to Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. At the end of 2007, Michael Lichtblau finally handed over the drum part to Stefan Bielesch. After a few festival and club appearances, the EP Tripswitcher was released at the end of 2008 . A short tour with the bands Dan Hiob Experiment and Ostkreutz followed .

In May 2009 the single Fall to the Floor was released . Japanese for the video for the single in the style of manga comics was the graphic artist responsible Eike Braselmann from Hannover. In the summer of 2009, Transmitter appeared at several festivals, such as the Taubertal Festival, the Open Flair, and the Prestenice Festival in the Czech Republic. On this tour Ti Schimschal, one of the former Psynostics, completed the band as VJ. After he left this in autumn 2014 for professional reasons, he stayed with the band as a graphic designer and programmer.

In autumn / winter 2009, transmitters accompanied the Erfurt electro rockers from Northern Lite on their Germany-wide Letters & Signs tour.

In September 2010 the single Never Mess was released as the first release of the album Overloader , which was released in October 2010. In the following years, in addition to the singles Never Mess (September 2010), Creation (May 2012), the third album Overloader (October 2010) and the EP 40,000 Horses (May 2012) were released.

The album Smaschine, released in January 2015, is said to have been the last physical record. The band intends to only publish in various digital formats in the future.

After the two-year Smaschine Europe tour 2015/2016, Transmitter still plays in clubs and at festivals in England, the Czech Republic, Italy, Croatia, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, Georgia and Germany.
