Northern Lite is a three-piece band from Erfurt .

Band history

Northern Lite was founded in 1997 by Andreas Kubat and Sebastian Bohn (Dj Boon). In 2001 Larry Lowe joined as a guitarist. Larry previously played in cover bands in South Carolina and gave the band, which until then had been more dedicated to techno , a rocky note. In 2004 Larry was replaced by Sascha Littek from Erfurt, Larry Lowe continued as DJ Fujimo and together with Kenny Laakinen in the Toxigen project.

With their label 1st Decade Records , Andreas Kubat and Sebastian Bohn created a platform in Erfurt in 2000 for other artists such as B. Monosurround , Neonman or Junghans . Northern Lite's music is often referred to as neo pop , a term - derived from a compilation series of the same name - encompassing modern electronic pop music of all kinds. Characteristic for Northern Lite are techno and electro pop elements in combination with rock guitars.

The people of Erfurt became known through their live gigs in small clubs in Germany and then in Spain, England and Japan. Northern Lite won the 2005 Dance Music Award in the "Best Indie / Electronic Artist" category. Northern Lite represented their home country Thuringia at the Bundesvision Song Contest 2007 and came in 6th place. The group performed with the title Enemy , which they performed together with Chapeau Claque . Enemy is also Northern Lite's only German-language title and was specially rewritten for the Bundesvision Song Contest. The original title Enemy (without Chapeau Claque) was previously released on the album Unisex (2006). Several other versions of this title exist.
