PC Nackt (* 1975 as Patrick Christensen ) is a musician, composer, producer and performance artist based in Berlin. The connection of sounds and philosophies of popular and experimental music (crossover) are a defining element of his work. Together with his partner Cherie he founded the band "Warren Suicide" and the studio collective "Chez Cherie" in Berlin. He also initiated the orchestral initiative “The String Theory”, where he works as musical director and conductor.

Life and career

Born in 1975 to a Danish dancer, PC Nackt began to compose ballet music and play in bands. At the age of 16 he joined the Federal Jazz Orchestra , followed by a two-year stay at the American Institute of Music in Vienna in 1993.

From 1995 to 1999 he studied jazz guitar and composition at the University of Music in Cologne. In addition to Nackt's intensive engagement with the Cologne jazz / art scene, he also worked in the fields of contemporary dance, theater and recordings. He also toured with various bands, including Linientreu. In 2000 he joined the Nena band, which he accompanied until 2005 as guitarist, co-author and at times also as musical director. During this time, Nena's comeback with two multiple platinum albums as well as a large number of recording sessions with other German pop artists, such as B. Udo Lindenberg or Dendemann .

Nackt has lived in Berlin since 1999, where he began to deal intensively with electronic music. In 2002, together with his partner and painter / VJ / singer Chérie, he founded the electro-punk band Warren Suicide and the “Chez Chérie”, a studio loft for music and art based in Berlin / Neukölln, which has already produced well over 100 albums recorded and dozens of films were set to music (e.g. Tocotronic , Beatsteaks , films by Wim Wenders ), including those produced by Nackt (e.g. Dieter Meier , Apparat , Hans Unstern ).

The collective's main project is the “Berlin String Theory” initiative launched by Ben Lauber and Nackt in 2007, followed by “Göteborg String Theory” in 2010 and “The String Theory” in 2017 - an orchestral project with a large number of Contributors from Germany (including Tocotronic) and Swedish musicians and artists (including The Soundtrack of our Lives ). Nackt toured as a conductor together with José González and the Göteborg String Theory through sold-out concert halls in Europe, in 2014 with the Southern Netherlands Philharmonic through the Netherlands, and from January to March 2017 through Europe and the USA with “The String Theory”. Since 2011 Nackt has been a regular co-producer and co-author of the Berlin musician Sascha Ring aka Apparat , with whom he also went on tour, most recently in 2016 on the Europe-wide “Soundtracks” tour with electronics, strings and the visual artists Transforma.

At the same time he wrote music for various international films and theater productions. His most recent projects include the “Hair” cooperation with the Bremen Philharmonic and the soundtrack for the US film “Equals”, for which Nackt was awarded the Soundtrack Stars Award at the Venice Film Festival together with co-authors Sascha Ring and Dustin O'Halloran has been.

Recently the single "Kalle Llamen" produced by Nackt by the Albanian artist Andrra, released in January 2017, entered the Albanian charts at number 1.
