The M'era Luna Festival is a music festival that has been held in Hildesheim since 2000 . With consistent attendance of about 25,000 people, it is next to the in Leipzig held Wave Gothic Festival one of the biggest festivals of alternative music - and black scene .

The M'era Luna takes place annually on the second weekend in August on the airfield in Hildesheim. It initially existed parallel to the Zillo Festival , which originally took place at this location, and succeeded it in 2000, after Zillo and the organizers decided to go their separate ways. The name is a fantasy name that, according to the organizer, should sound “round”, “and also a little international”.

The festival is organized by FKP Scorpio Konzertproduktionen GmbH , and the media partner is the music magazine Sonic Seducer . The musical focus is on genres such as electro , medieval rock , metal , alternative rock , synth rock and gothic .

Over two days, around 40 bands will perform on an open-air stage and a stage in the hangar. In addition, there is a disco program at night , a medieval market, a workshop program for the M'era Luna Academy, which was introduced in 2017, and numerous stalls with fashion and lifestyle items that are particularly relevant to the scene. Readings have also been held at the festival since 2011. The camping site, which is on both sides of the runway, opens its doors on Friday morning - the official program starts on Friday evening and lasts until Sunday evening.
