Eyes Shut Tight (dt. Tightly closed eyes ) is a German alternative rock - band from Hamburg to singer and frontman Dirk "Trashedsoul" Wieczorek.
history
Eyes Shut Tight was founded in mid-2007 by Dirk “Trashedsoul” Wieczorek and the former guitarist Kris. Wieczorek, who was previously active with other bands, recorded the song Mother Darksome with Kris , which they put on their Myspace page. The track was listened to over 10,000 times and was the starting point for the formation of the band. The band name Eyes Shut Tight was chosen according to the band's motto - Close your eyes and go through. He also refers to the ignorance of some people in today's society.
The band performed for the first time in Hamburg as support for Stahlmann . This was followed by further appearances in 2010 as support for Gwar and Hanzel and Gretyl . In spring 2010, the debut album Secret Destroyer was released on the Danse Macabre label . The publication was followed by a release concert in the Markthalle Hamburg as part of the "Return of the Living Dead" and an appearance at the M'era Luna Festival 2010.
In mid-2011 the second album was released under the title Fairground Zero , which was produced and mixed by Lars Oppermann. This was followed by appearances at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen , the NCN (Nocturnal Culture Night) and appearances with Grausame Töchter and Devil-M as well as with Acronym and Eden Circus .
At the end of 2011, the friendship between Wieczorek and Kris broke up, who went their separate ways. Wieczorek decided to continue the band in 2012 with a new line-up. Guitarist John Smith joined the band. Jan Peter Genkel was called in as producer, who has already produced for Cradle of Filth , Therion , Love Like Blood , Girls Under Glass and EverEve , among others . With him Eyes Shut Tight recorded the EP The Outlaws . The tour “Tortured Artist” followed in 2013 as support for Zeromancer .
The songwriting for the third album Banished from Paradise began in autumn 2012, the majority of the songs were created during the joint tour with Zeromancer. The album was released in late 2014. Eyes Shut Tight has been under contract with the Hall of Sermon ( Sony Music ) label since December 2014 . In autumn 2015 Eyes Shut Tight supported Lord of the Lost on their “Make-Love-Make-War” tour in Germany.
The drummer Yannik Mouton left the band in May 2016. He was replaced shortly after by Yannik "Rage" Bockelmann.
In September 2016 the band went on a "Banished-and-Gone" tour together with Florian Gray and the support groups Sorrownight, Johnny Deathshadow and Herzparasit . In this context, the band presented their new single Death of Art , which is related to the project of the same name initiated by the band. The song criticizes the decay of the alternative scene.
style
Eyes Shut Tight can best be assigned to the genre of alternative rock. The band sees groups such as Rammstein , Marilyn Manson and KORN as musical influences . However, Wieczorek emphasizes that the band goes their own way and that they make the music the way the musicians want to hear it.
