Trisomie 21 is a French band that was founded in 1981 by the brothers Philippe and Hervé Lomprez in Denain ( North ). It was named after a genome mutation in humans, the triple occurrence of chromosome No. 21 ( Down syndrome ).

The band's early works are attributed to the French cold wave movement. From the mid-1980s there was a switch to electronic pop music. In the meantime Laurent Dagnicourt had replaced founding member Pascal Tison on bass. Songs like "Logical Animals", "The Last Song" and "La Fête Triste" are considered classics. In 2004 the band released their album "Happy Mystery Child" after a seven-year hiatus. The last album "Elegance Never Dies" was released in 2017.
