Funker Vogt are a music project from Hameln in the electro genre.

history

The band was formed in 1995 as a side project of Ravenous. The name refers to a friend of the two founding members Jens Kästel and Gerrit Thomas, who was a radio operator in the Bundeswehr and whose last name was Vogt. Later Thomas Kroll (guitar), who was later replaced by Frank Schweigert, and Björn Böttcher (keys) joined the live crew. For the USA tour in 2008, among other things, Thomas Kroll is back in the live line-up for Frank Schweigert due to time constraints. In 2012, they parted ways and Björn Böttcher left the band. Thomas Kroll retired at the beginning of 2012, since then René Dornbusch has been the new live keyboardist and drummer.

On November 20, 2013 Jens Kästel announced that he would be leaving the band after a last concert at the end of November. Before releasing new material with a new singer, Funker Vogt released the Survivor Collector's Edition (3 CDs) on June 27, 2014 . The Collector's Edition contains four albums and maxi CDs that have not been available for several years, plus eight rare and unreleased songs.

After the release of the single Sick Man , which thus bore the name of the pseudonym of the new singer, it became known that the new singer was Sacha Korn , who is said to have a right disposition . Due to the media coverage, the band announced on December 30, 2014 on their Facebook page that the band and the singer were going their separate ways.

After a long break, the band announced in December 2016 that Chris L. ( Agonoize ) would support them as a singer with immediate effect .

Gerrit Thomas started the side project Fictional , as well as the Fusspils 11 project together with Kästel . The last project was the band Gecko Sector with Stefan Winkel.

style

The music can be assigned to the electro environment. In terms of content, current topics such as war or violence are dealt with, but also other society-related topics. At the beginning mainly English texts were used, but later also German. The early albums contained very brutal electronic beats and a voice of the singer Jens Kästel with a lot of effects. From Navigator and especially with the album Survivor , a clear, undistorted singing can be recognized. Real guitar riffs are also increasingly being used.

As usual in the music genre, in addition to several original compositions, pieces from other bands are often remixed, e.g. B. von Leæther Strip , Front 242 , Unzucht , Melotron , L'Âme Immortelle , Das Ich and Velvet Acid Christ . Conversely, the Funker Vogt pieces are also popular mix candidates with other groups in this genre.
