Gecko Sector is an electro project founded in 2006 by Gerrit Thomas and Stefan Winkel .
history
Gerrit Thomas, who was already successful with his bands Funker Vogt , Ravenous and Fusspils 11 , founded Gecko Sector with Stefan Winkel in 2006. In contrast to Thomas, Winkel was primarily known as a DJ. The name Gecko Sector is supposed to be an allusion to the connection of the more technical musical component of the music with the organically dark part of the singing. The term sector relates to the smallest addressable part of a storage medium and gecko to the nocturnal animal.
At the end of 2010 there was a support tour with And One , with FOD as an additional support act . In 2012 the first and so far only album Enter was released under the label Out of Line with 12 tracks.
Style and perception
The band's music is considered to be “club-friendly, catchy and, above all, varied”. The tonal implementation ranges from techno-heavy dance floor numbers to melancholic mid-tempo pieces to ballads. The band positions itself as a link between synth-pop-retro and current electronic music styles of the black scene .
“There are really a lot of electro projects at the moment, some of which I also really like. On the other hand, there are a lot of tough projects and on the other hand a lot of more trendy things. We close the gap in between. It's a mix of retro elements and current styles. "
