Sonic Seducer (English: acoustic seducer) is a music magazine published by Thomas Vogel Musikzeitschriftenverlag. Since it was founded in 1994, the magazine has developed into one of the most popular magazines on the alternative and black scene . The thematic focus is broadly based and covers music genres such as alternative rock , metal , medieval rock , new German hardness , electronic rock , pop rock , Future Pop , Aggrotech , power noise , crossover and occasionally Dark Wave , Gothic and Industrial from .
content
Each issue consists of numerous interviews with and stories about bands and projects, concert, CD, DVD, game and book reviews as well as tour dates and news sections. In addition, there are always big specials on topics such as the Middle Ages, various record labels and movies, but also studio reports. The articles are optically and aesthetically laid out for the target group of the black scene.
Every issue since 1999 has been accompanied by a “Cold Hands Seduction” CD, sometimes also a DVD, on which the music pieces by the artists presented in the issue can be heard. The focus is not only on established bands, but newcomers are also consciously encouraged. In the multimedia section, which Sonic Seducer introduced as the first German music magazine, you can often see interview clips or music videos. In 2001 the publisher introduced a second CD supplement in the form of a video CD, on which, among other things, the annual M'era Luna Festival presented by Sonic Seducer is continuously documented. Since 2006 the video CD has given way to a DVD. Other bonus CDs are dedicated to label, medieval and other motto specials. Other supplements include large-format posters, a fetish calendar, stickers or postcards. All readers also receive a pocket calendar free of charge with each first issue of the year.
Young talent competition
Once a year Sonic Seducer calls on young musicians to take part in the "Battle of the Bands" . Since the end of 2000, 30 newcomers without a record deal with an mp3 track have been featured on the CD in the December issue. In addition to the readers, a professional jury from the music industry selects the best bands that are given the chance to get a record deal. In addition to many prizes in kind, the winners will also be rewarded with sampler contributions and performance opportunities. With the “Battle of the Bands” Sonic Seducer has also developed into a central organ of the alternative music scene, which discovers and promotes the most promising newcomers.
Festivals
For many years Sonic Seducer presented the M'era Luna Festival - with over 20,000 visitors it is one of the largest festivals on the alternative scene. Until 2011, the editorial team compiled the M'era Luna festival sampler, which was popular with fans and featured the festival bands, once a year in advance. Extensive follow-up reports and an elaborate festival film were to be found in the editions following the festival until 2017.
