Microclocks (own spelling: microClocks ) is a German band from the Ruhr area. From 2011 the band was signed to the Artist Station Records label by Frank Bornemann , founder of the art rock band Eloy . In 2016 she signed a contract with the Echozone label . The band describes itself as stylistically between rock and pop . The English-language texts often deal with socio-political problems, outside determination, social injustices, the decline in values in our society and the call to revolt against these conditions.

history

After founding Microclocks, the band was accepted into the Bandwatch funding program of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. This was followed by appearances at major events such as the Kieler Woche , the Eurocityfest Münster or Essen.Original. In 2010, Microclocks received awards as part of the German Rock & Pop Prize for the first album, Stars From Diffuse Matter , which was still self-distributed at the time, as well as for the video release of the same name in the categories Best Album (in English) and Best Video .

At the beginning of 2011, the recordings for the album Opinions Are On Sale , which was released on November 18, 2011, began. The album was produced by Massimo Nocito. With the first single Is Anybody Out There? , which addresses questions about being beyond one's own perception, the band reached 8th place in the 'German Alternative Charts' (DAC) and 16th place in the 'Native 25 Charts' in week 42 of 2011 and stayed in for several weeks the top 20 of the DAC. The following year the band embarked on their first tour, which was presented by Sennheiser and the music magazine Intro . In December 2012, festivals and show cases followed with Saltatio Mortis , Mesh , De / Vision and In Strict Confidence, among others .

In the course of the increased live presence, not only the specialist press but also the daily press became aware of the band. In a report at the beginning of 2013, Bild compared microclocks with Depeche Mode , which are still considered one of the band's role models to this day. This was followed by appearances at Bochum Total and at the Nocturnal Culture Night Festival with artists such as Phillip Boa and the Voodooclub and Diary of Dreams .

In 2014 the band could be seen at the M'era Luna Festival in Hildesheim alongside acts such as Marilyn Manson , Within Temptation and Paradise Lost . In addition, work on the new album began with producer Olaf Wollschläger, who has been responsible for productions of And One or Mesh in the recent past . The album production was financed by a crowdfunding project initiated by the band, which was successfully completed in 2015.

Social and social engagement

Microclocks has been the official ambassador of the social association AH-TA eV since August 2012. The band was already involved in charity events, for example in favor of the women's emergency call at a concert in Cologne.
