Cephalgy is an electronic music project that was founded in 1997 under the name Sven West .

Band history

In 1997, a nameless music project was founded by Rico Schmidt and Jörg Göhler. After a year the project paused and everyone worked on their own things. In 1999 they met again. Jörg is now working musically with Sven West. From then on the project was called Svenwest in advance. There were first live performances which were organized and carried out independently. In the former "Club Achtermai" in Chemnitz they met Ivo Lottig and Kay Resch from Accessory . The first promo album was then recorded in studio quality for both of them. During these recordings, Kay Resch organized a contract with the Out of Line label . Due to existing problems with the stage name SvenWest, the name was changed to Cephalgy. Sven West did not go into the new project. In 2003 he left the band. Ronny joined the band for Sven and has since supported Cephalgy as a keyboard player. Several appearances followed until Cephalgy was booked as the opening act for Blutengel. In 2004 Cepgalgy supported the Deamon Kiss Tour from Blutengel. Rico Schmidt left the band at the end of 2004. He could no longer connect his private life and the band. "Stella" was put in his place and in December 2006 she announced her departure.

Naming

Cephalgy is a derivation of the Greek word cephalgia, which means something like headache . This word does not exist in English / American, it is a neologism .
