Flowing Tears (until 1999 Flowing Tears and Withered Flowers ) is a dark rock band from Wadgassen ( Saarlouis district ).
Band history
In 1994 Benjamin Buss (guitar, keyboards), Manfred Bersin (vocals), Björn Lorson (guitar), Christian Zimmer (drums) and Frederic Lesny (bass) founded the band under the name Flowing Tears and Withered Flowers. Björn Lorson left in 1995.
The debut album Swansongs , which was initially available through self-distribution, was released in 1996 on the Italian label Seven Art Music. After publication, Christian Zimmer got out and was replaced by Eric Hilt. Manfred Bersin switched to guitar and with Stefanie Duchêne a singer was brought into the band. Joy Parade followed in 1998. A European tour with The 3rd and the Mortal followed. After the tour, however, they separated from their record company and released their EP Swallow (1999) through self-distribution. In the same year one of the songs appeared on the Unheard supplement of the rock-hard magazine.
Century Media showed interest in the band and signed them. A tour with The Gathering was the record company's first action for the band. Jade then appeared under the shortened band name Flowing Tears. Musically, the album is an intersection of the gothic metal bands Tiamat and Paradise Lost , which were popular at the time , but also Pink Floyd . The album was followed by a tour supporting Therion and Voivod .
In 2002 the album Serpentine was released. At this point, Manfred Bersin and Mike Volz had already left the band. The two were not even replaced, however, the guitar parts and keyboards were now recorded by Benjamin Buss single-handedly. Eric Hilt also got out and was replaced by Stefan Gemballa. After the tour with Tiamat and Moonspell , Stefanie Duchêne got out. As a successor, the band signed Helen Vogt after six months unsuccessfully looking for a replacement. Vogt was first presented at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2003 and at various other festivals. Among other things, the band played at the London Astoria together with My Dying Bride .
The first album with Helen Vogt was released in 2004. Razorbliss was produced by Waldemar Sorychta . Dirk Thurisch from Angel Dust made a guest appearance on the album. Björn Lorson and Christian Zimmer died in a car accident in mid-October 2004.
The band has been under contract with Ascendance Records since 2007, where they released both the live album "Invanity" and the studio production "Thy Kingdome Gone" (produced in 2008 by Kristian "Kohlen" Kohlmannslehner in the Kohlkeller Studio).
