Waldemar Sorychta

Waldemar Sorychta (* 1967 in Zabrze ) is a Polish - German metal musician and music producer . Born in Poland, he has lived in Bochum since 1982 .

Career

Sorychta gained his first experience as the guitarist of the Dortmund thrash metal band Despair , with whom he released three albums in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Later he was hired by Phillip Boa for his metal project Voodoocult . While recording the album Jesus Killing Machine in 1994, he met Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo . After a complete reshuffle for the art project Voodocult, both founded the band Grip Inc.

In the period from 1995 to 2004, Sorychta recorded four albums with Grip Inc., where he was responsible for both songwriting and production. The high point of the joint activities was the Dynamo Open Air 1999. Since Lombardo's return to Slayer in 2001 and the death of Grip Inc. singer Gus Chambers in 2008, the band has been idle.

Initially, Sorychta worked as a producer mainly for the record label Century Media . Some of the best-known bands that have produced albums under his leadership include Samael , Lacuna Coil , The Gathering , Tristania , Tiamat , Dismal Euphony , Gurd , Moonspell , Therion and My Insanity .

Sorychta currently plays Eyes of Eden , ReVamp and Enemy of the Sun . In all bands he is responsible for both the compositions and the production. For Andreas Geremia and Bobby Schottkowski as Bobby & Gerre he wrote and produced the song Die Zwei von der Tanke in 2012 and played it live at the Rock Hard Festival .

Sorychta is a fan of the Borussia Dortmund soccer club .
