The 3rd and the Mortal was a Norwegian band.

history

The band was founded in 1992 by Rune Hoemsnes, Finn Olav Holthe, Geir Nilssen, Trond Engum and Kari Rueslåtten . In 1993 a first EP called Sorrow was released . The band's debut album, Tears Laid in Earth , was released in 1994. The following year Rueslåtten left The 3rd and the Mortal and was replaced by Ann-Marie Edvardsen. Painting on Glass was released in 1996 , followed by In This Room , from which the single Stream was decoupled, the year after. In 1998 the band then withdrew from the public for a few years and in 2002 released a new album, Memoirs , with recordings made in previous years. In 2004 a compilation was released under the name EP's & Rarities , which combined the EPs Sorrow and Nightswan , the B-side of the stream single and the bonus title of the Japanese edition of In This Room . The so far last sign of life from The 3rd and the Mortal is the EP Project Bluebook from 2005, which contains two new studio recordings from August / September 2003, a live improvisation from 1998 and four live recordings from the 2002 European tour.

The band was never officially dissolved, but since October 21, 2004 there is no more news on the homepage.

style

In of Ovl. Svithjod of In the Woods ... published A 1000 Years ... ... of lost pride and dignity , the sound of their EP Sorrow was described as "medieval based on rock"; the band also seems to process influences from Norwegian folklore.
