Lahannya is both the name of a British singer and songwriter and the band she's front woman. She also works sporadically as a DJ in the London club Slimelight . She gained fame primarily through her collaboration with Greenhaus , Soman , Combichrist , Dracul and ASP .

biography

Beginnings

Lahannya's musical career began with the self-produced track Drowning , which appeared on the Amdusicas compilation in 1998 . Spurred on by positive reactions, she finally released her debut of the same name. After moving from Brighton to London, the Briton began working as a DJ in the local Slimelight Club. The contacts made there resulted, among other things, in a collaboration with the German artist Soman ( Mask , Eye to eye , Tears ).

Development after 2004

In 2004 Lahannya met Lutz Demmler, bassist and producer of the band Umbra et Imago, by chance at the M'era Luna Festival . The quickly developing friendship between the two gave rise to the idea of recording an album together - Shotgun Reality (released in 2007) was born. The disc served Lahannya as a springboard to other joint projects with artists such as B. Xotox .

Two years later Lahannya and Lutz Demmler finally received support from Belle (known for Nosferatu, Killing Miranda and others) on drums and Chris Milden (NFD) on guitar. Together, the quartet completed several sold-out shows in the opening act of the American musician Emilie Autumn .

Drummer Belle left the band in late 2010 for personal reasons. His successor is Luca Mazzucconi, who like Chris Milden is also a member of the British band NFD.

"Welcome to the underground"

The EP "Welcome to the underground", published in 2008, depicts a futuristic world in Great Britain in 2015, in which permanent surveillance is the order of the day. Freethinkers and individualists are undesirable and forced either to bow to the crowd or to lead an isolated life in London's underground tunnels.

Shortly after the release, Lahannya presented the EP on a tour with ASP . At the same time it served as the introduction to the album "Defiance", which followed in 2009 and continues the story that began on the EP.

"Defiance", "Scavenger" and "Dystopia"

The single "Scavenger", released in November 2010, contains two songs from the following album "Dystopia", live recordings of older songs, recorded on the Essen Original 2010. It also includes a live DVD showing the band's performance at the Metal Female Voices Fest 2009 shows. On October 7, 2011, the band's third album, "Dystopia", was released. Thematically, this also starts where the predecessor "Defiance" closed.

"Sojourn"

In November 2013 the live DVD "Sojourn" was released, which not only contains film recordings of the band's live performances at the M'Era Luna Festival 2012 and the Metal Female Voices Fest 2012 but also two CDs. On the one hand, there are the highlights of the festival appearances of the DVD as well as a compilation of older collaborations with Greenhaus, Soman, Xotox and Dracul.
