The Fiescheralp - also known as Kühboden or Chiebode - is located in the Swiss canton of Valais at 2212 m above sea level. M. in the municipality of Fiesch and, together with Bettmeralp and Riederalp, belongs to the car-free Aletsch plateau and to the Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn mountain region in the Bernese Alps, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002 .
Fiescheralp can be reached with the Fiesch - Eggishorn aerial cableway, which was completed in 1966 , the lower section of which was replaced in 2019 by the fastest 10- seater gondola lift in Switzerland from the Fiesch public transport hub, which was built at the same time and overcomes a height difference of 1144 m.
Strictly speaking, you have to field Fiescheralpe, the place Fiescheralp and the local name Chiebode differ. Kühboden is only listed as a building (here: hotel, restaurant) on the Swiss national map .
Ski Area
Fiescheralp is one of three access points to the Aletsch Arena ski area , which in winter connects Bettmer, Rieder and Fiescheralp. It comprises 104 km of slopes that cover an altitude range from 1062 m (Fiesch valley station) to 2869 m (Eggishorn mountain station). If the snow conditions are good, the downhill route to Fiesch is marked from Fiescheralp, but it requires good skills.
