Stromkern are an American music project that was founded in 1994 by James "Ned" Kirby. Musically, the band Stromkern is characterized by a mixture of the genres hip-hop and electro .

Career

Before founding Stromkern, Kirby DJed in Madison , Wisconsin and experimented under the name Flowers for Ravers . Dissatisfied with the music he was recording as a DJ, he decided to start his own music project. In addition to German expressions such as Blick vom Rande der Nacht , his early works also included a cover of Nick Caves The Mercy Seat . These first songs enjoyed great popularity on samplers and Stromkern signed a contract with the German label Kodex / Sushia Light. The first success for Stromkern soon followed with the album Flicker Like a Candle . Today Stromkern are under contract in Europe with Dependent Records and in North America with WTII Records.

After two successful albums and a few singles as a solo artist, Kirby brought his friend and music producer Kelly Shaffer on board to record the album Armageddon . Furthermore, the band joined the live members Matt Berger, Rob Wentz and later Tyler Newman for the recording of the album Light it up .
