Teufel (born Mike Paulenz on July 9, 1965 ) is a German musician. He became known through the bands Tanzwut and Corvus Corax .

Life

Teufel grew up in the GDR , where he joined the medieval scene and lived as a traveling musician. In the early 1990s he was a member of the band Corvus Corax. After leaving in 1992, he played with Michael Robert Rhein in the band Pullarius Furcillo before returning to Corvus Corax as a bagpipe and shawm player from 1996 to 2010 . In 1997 he founded the band Tanzwut with his colleagues from Corvus Corax.

In 2010 Teufel released his first solo album under the title Absinth . It was released on his own label, Teufel Records , distributed by Soulfood . Stylistically, the album moves in the area of the genres new German hardness and industrial rock . In contrast to Corvus Corax and Tanzwut, bagpipes are rarely used. Absinthe contains a total of 13 songs and two spoken lyrical texts.

A volume of poetry was also announced.

In addition, Teufel was used as a guest in the song "The Hammer Falls" by Heldmaschine in 2015.

Occur

The musician was nicknamed the devil after the song "Nikol Reifenteufel" (text: Kurt Arnold Findeisen , music by Dieter Kalka ), which is about a minstrel who is believed to be the devil by a superstitious grave digger . He later adapted his appearance as a musician to his pseudonym. His trademark is his hairstyle, two tufts of hair formed into horns protruding at an angle, with an otherwise shaved head.
