SITD (short for " Shadows in the Dark ", often stylized as [: SITD:] ) is a German Futurepop- and Aggrotech - music group consisting of Carsten Jacek (voice), Thomas Lesczenski (music and voice) and Frank D ' Angelo (music and backing vocals ).

history

SITD was founded in spring 1996 under the name Shadows in the Dark by Carsten Jacek (vocals) and Thorsten Lau (music) in Bochum . In the years 1996 to 1999 a number of sampler contributions as well as the albums Trauerland (1996) and Atomic (1999) appeared in very small numbers . Thorsten Lau left the group later. Thomas Lesczenski joined in 1999.

2001 SITD strengthened itself with André Sorge (today with Contaminant ) as keyboard player. The year turned out to be a milestone for SITD: The song Snuff Machinery surprisingly became a club hit and appeared a little later on the successful Septic II sampler. An appearance in the opening act of VNV Nation gave a larger audience access to SITD for the first time. Snuff Machinery remained a perennial favorite for weeks. André Sorge got out a little later.

Accession-Records published the Snuff EP in 2002 and SITD achieved international recognition for the first time. In the German Alternative Charts (DAC) the song reached number 1 (in the annual ranking number 10). The album Stronghold was also released in 2003 on Accession Records. The keyboardist Francesco D'Angelo reinforced SITD during performances. SITD played at various festivals and concerts.

The maxi CD Richtfest with three songs and four remixes of the title track, including one by Suicide Commando , for which they remixed themselves in 2003 and 2010, was released on Accession Records in February 2005. The topping-out ceremony reached number two in the DAC charts, which resulted in an eight-week stay at the end of the year, making it 12th in the single annual charts. The second album Coded Message 12 followed a little later , accompanied by the "Coded Message 12 '" tour.

In 2006 the band celebrated their 10th anniversary. At the same time a German-language fan forum for [: SITD:] was put online. In July 2007 the Kreuz: gang, also available as a maxi-CD , was released on the sound carrier Klangfusion Vol.1 . A little later the accompanying album Bestie: Mensch was released. On 30 October 2009, the plain appeared red -titled next album. On November 18th, 2011 the CD box ICON: KORU - 15th Anniversary Collector's Box was released for the band's 15th anniversary . Dunkelziffer , the last album so far, was released in 2014.

style

The typical sound of SITD is characterized by hard electrobeats with typical trance elements and aggressive vocals. The texts mostly contain apocalyptic and violent themes.
