Sulpher ( English for sulfur ) is a British band that stylistically combines industrial , rock and metal .

history

Rob Holliday ( Marilyn Manson etc.) and Steve Monti ( Curve , Heart Throbs , Jesus and Mary Chain etc.) met for the first time in 1998 on an American tour with the English band Curve. The same musical interests and influences prompted the two of them, as soon as they returned to England, to go into the studio and work on ideas together. This resulted in the band Sulpher, founded in 1999 by Rob and Monti.

After the band initially co-produced the Gary Numan album Pure , which was released in 2000, the British label Mechanical finally released the first single One of Us in 2001. In the same year, Sulpher was named "Best British Industrial Act" by Classic Rock magazine " explained. In Germany, Sulpher was signed by the record company Dependent Records, which released the debut album Spray on October 7, 2002 . Michael Schäfer rated the album with four out of five possible stars in Metal Hammer magazine .

In 2002 Sulpher toured Germany as the opening act for The 69 Eyes and in 2003 with Sisters of Mercy ( Smoke and Mirrors Tour). The Sisters of Mercy album Smoke and Mirrors was released by Banana Records with eight Sulpher bonus tracks : One of Us , Misery , Unknown , You Ruined Everything , Take a Look , You Take It Everything , Problem , Scarred and Spray . The career highlight so far is the appearance as the opening act for Marilyn Manson in Dresden in 2003 , where Sulpher was able to prove himself in front of around 12,000 fans.

The band has released one album and two singles so far. In addition, songs appeared on numerous compilations . The formation continues to perform, another album has been announced for many years. The band no longer has an official website.

Her title Fear Me was used by NBC as part of her promotion for the 2002 Winter Olympics .
