Band history

The Heart Throbs (German: Herzklopfen ) was founded in 1987 by twin sisters Rachel and Rose (who are sisters of Echo & The Bunnymen drummer Pete DeFreitas ) in Reading , England . After the release of several singles in the late 1980s, the band got a record deal with One Little Indian Records , which in 1990 brought out their long play debut "Cleopatra Grip". The album with the successful singles "Dreamtime" and "She's In Trance" gives a good overview of all music styles that were current in the UK in 1990: post-punk , shoegazing and dance rhythms a la Madchester . The album was mixed by producers Gil Norton and Martin Hannett , among others . As a result of the release, there was a break within the band and the rhythm section was renewed. The self-produced follow-up album "Jubilee Twist" from 1992 contains the song "Tiny Feet", the band's most popular song among fans, and a chart-convertible hit with "Hooligan", but it was not successful. A&M Records , which released both albums in the USA, withdrew due to the weak sales figures. In 1993, the band released their third album in Europe, entitled "Vertical Smile". After the separation of the band, which had already become apparent due to the previous failures, Rose Carlotti and Steve Beswick founded the band Angora, which was later renamed Tom Patrol before it split up.
