Dependent Records is an independent label that specializes in electronic music ( electro , electronica , future pop , synth pop ). It was founded in 1999 by Stefan Herwig ( A&R of the Off Beat label ). Bands from the early days were VNV Nation , Covenant , Velvet Acid Christ and Suicide Commando . Due to the high number of illegal downloads, the label closed from 2007 to 2009. As a result, strangers spread the range on The Pirate Bay .
