Iris is an American synth rock band.

Band history

Iris was founded in 1993 by Reagan Jones and Matt Morris under the name Forgiving Iris . Both had met in college and decided, influenced by bands like Erasure and Depeche Mode , to form a band. Initially, both performed primarily in and around Austin, Texas. In 1999 they changed the band name to Iris and released their debut album Disconnect .

Because of different ideas about the further musical development of the band, Morris was no longer involved in the recordings for the second album. At this time, Jones met the musician Andrew Sega (previously musician of the PC demo group Kosmic Free Music Foundation ). After both had produced their first pieces together, Sega became a member of the band. The second album Awakening , characterized by heavier guitars and electronic sounds, was released in 2003.

In 2005 the third album Wrath was released , accompanied by a European tour with performances in Moscow and London.

The fourth album Hydra was released in 2008 as a CD / DVD pack with remixes by Mesh , Alpinestars , Datguy , Benz & MD as well as a 30-minute tour documentary "Behind the scenes".

In September 2010 the fifth album Blacklight was released on Infacted Recordings. In spring 2011 the group went on the Lost Tour 2011 together with De / Vision and Mesh .

When performing, the band is supported by alternating live musicians such as Ned Kirby (keyboard, bass) and Brian Pearson (guitar).
