Solar Fake is an electro act by Sven Friedrich .

Career

From 2006 the multi-instrumentalist and singer Sven Friedrich, known through his other projects Zeraphine and Dreadful Shadows, wrote more and more electronic tracks, then founded Solar Fake and hired Frank as a live keyboardist. In 2008 they released their first album "Broken Grid". Various concerts and festival appearances followed (including Blackfield Festival) and a support tour with VNV Nation in 2009 through Europe and Germany.

In December 2009 the Resigned EP was released on the occasion of the Neuwerk Festival, which, in addition to the title track, also contained cover versions and a remix. It was a strictly limited edition that was only available at Solar Fake's live shows and was therefore sold out quickly. In 2011 the second album "Frontiers" was released, which brought Solar Fake into the clubs and on the dance floors. The album stayed in the DAC (German Alternative Charts) for the maximum possible eight weeks. This was followed by festivals (including Amphi Festival, E-Tropolis), sold out individual concerts and other tours as opening act for VNV Nation in Great Britain, Project Pitchfork , Covenant and Peter Heppner, among others .

In October 2013, their third album "Reasons to Kill" was released, with which they achieved success in the German album charts for the first time. It also stayed in the top half of the DAC top ten every 8 possible weeks. In November of that year, Solar Fake played for the first time in Tel Aviv, followed by appearances in Madrid and Barcelona as well as an appearance at the Darkstorm Festival in December . In January 2014 their "Reasons To Kill" tour began, which took the band through Germany, Russia and Switzerland.

In the first half of 2014 there was a change in the live line-up. First, André Feller (formerly guitarist with the Dreadful Shadows ) joined Solar Fake as the second keyboard player, so that there were short-term appearances with a three-man line-up. A few weeks later, however, Frank announced that he was leaving the band for personal reasons. In the summer of 2014, Solar Fake played at other festivals at home and abroad, including the Amphi Festival, the M'era Luna Festival and the Orus Festival in Mexico City. At the final Amphi event “CALL THE SHIP 2 NIGHT” on the “MS RheinFantasie”, the “One Step Closer” performance took place, a specially arranged set of vocals, piano and synth sounds, in which an acoustic guitar was used for the first time . Solar Fake was supported in this performance by Dirk Riegner on the piano and in the cover "Die Flut" by Peter Heppner .

In March, Solar Fake supported the camouflage greyscale tour , and there were festival appearances at the E-Only Festival, E-Tropolis Festival, Blackfield Festival and at the Nocturnal Culture Nights. Sven Friedrich worked on the material for the upcoming album throughout the year.

The single "ALL THE THINGS YOU SAY", limited to 777 copies, was released on September 25, 2015, and the associated video clip was also released at the same time. On October 30th, 2015 the 4th Solar Fake Album "ANOTHER MANIC EPISODE" was released. This is the first Solar Fake release in multiple configurations such as fan box, 2CD deluxe version and even vinyl. On the second CD of the deluxe edition there are two cover versions, mainly remixes and similar. a. by Project Pitchfork , Aesthetic Perfection , Desireless & Operation of the Sun and many more.

Solar Fake's most successful headlining tour, “Manic Episodes Tour”, took place in February 2016 in Germany. Many of the concerts were sold out. After that, the band played at several festivals such as the Wave-Gotik-Treffen and the Amphi Festival.

Production, design

Sven Friedrich is completely responsible for the music production, as well as for all compositions, texts, arrangements and recordings. The artwork for the album Frontiers was created in close collaboration with the Berlin artist Christian Ruhm, the design of Reasons to Kill worked with the designer JK. Since Frontiers , in addition to the usual acknowledgments, more or less serious things have been listed on the pages of the booklet that were necessary to complete the album.
