At the end of May, they appeared on the renowned TV show Later with Jools Holland . Festival appearances and several tours of Great Britain and some US appearances followed.
The first single was released at the end of September 2008, the title Death , which brought them their first chart placement. In the BBC's Sound of 2009 forecast , the White Lies landed at number 2. The band's debut album To Lose My Life was released in January 2009 and immediately rose to number 1 on the UK charts.
