Carl Hold (born September 10, 1871 in Stockum , † November 17, 1946 in Essen ) was a German manager in the Ruhr mining industry .

The miner's son Carl Hold attended elementary school and completed his training as a steiger in 1897 , where he attended the mountain pre-school in Witten , which was followed by the mountain pre-school in Bochum from 1894 to 1897 .

He then worked for two years as a foreman at the Carolus Magnus colliery in Essen , before he came as a foreman at the United Rosen- und Blumendelle colliery , which was part of the Mülheimer Bergwerks-Verein founded by Hugo Stinnes and August Thyssen . From 1900 Carl Hold was operator of the Stinnes colliery Victoria Mathias and from July 1, 1906 mine inspector of this and of the mines Mathias Stinnes , Carolus Magnus, Graf Beust and Friedrich Ernestine . In 1908 he became operational director of these mines, after which he became mine director in 1912 and general director of all Stinnes mines on December 15, 1923. Among other things, Hold introduced pulverized coal combustion. After the RWE mines had separated from the Stinnes mines, Hold took over the management of the RWE mines Friedrich-Ernestine, Graf Beust and Victoria-Mathias.

From 1921 Carl Hold was a member of the executive board of RWE AG as well as other supervisory boards, boards of trustees and boards of other companies. He was also a member of the district council and the Essen district committee. As a representative of the mining section in the Reich Association of German Industry , Hold was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Rhine Province from 1920 to 1929 .

In addition, Carl Hold was a long-time mayor in Karnap and between 1915 and the incorporation into the city of Essen in 1929 honorary mayor of the mayorry of Karnap. He made a decisive contribution to the fact that Karnap was not united with Gladbeck . From 1929 he was a city councilor for the city of Essen until the meeting was dissolved on February 4, 1933.

Carl Hold was buried in the Bredeney cemetery in Essen.

Honors

In 1922 Carl Hold was made an honorary citizen of the Technical University of Berlin , and in 1923 he received an honorary doctorate from this university. In 1928 the Clausthal Mining Academy and the Technical University of Berlin made him an honorary senator.
