Fair to Midland is an American alternative rock band formed in 1998 by Darroh Sudderth and Cliff Campbell. The band has released four albums and one EP . The band has been inactive since 2013. It is not known whether the band has finally split up, but based on some indications it is obvious.
Band history
Foundation and albums 1998–2011
Fair to Midland was founded in 1998 by singer Darroh Sudderth and guitarist Cliff Campbell in Sulfur Springs , Texas . In 2001 their first album The Carbon Copy Silver Lining was released . Matt Langley joined the band for their second album Inter.Funda.Stifle , released in 2004 . The band has been part of the Serjical Strike label since 2006 . Serjical Strike is owned by System of a Down singer Serj Tankian . He discovered Fair to Midland himself and was so excited that he offered them a contract. In the same year the EP The Drawn and Quartered was released. In 2007 her third album Fables From A May Fly: What I Tell You Three Times Is True and from it the singles Dance of the Manatee and Tall Tales Taste Like Sour Grapes was released . Fair to Midland's fourth studio album was released in 2011 under the title "Arrows & Anchors".
Inactivity and possible separation
After the tour belonging to the album, it was announced that a fifth album was in production, which should include songs that did not make it onto the previous album. In the spring of 2013, however, the website was stopped and the social media pages were no longer updated. Brett Stowers, who left the band in 2011, was the only one who has commented on the band's status so far. He says that by the time he left the band had already amassed large debts, were not signed to any label and the band members lived all over the USA.
To this day it is not known whether the band has broken up completely or whether they are planning activities together again after the longer break.
New member projects
It is believed that singer Darroh Sudderth married and had a child and there is evidence that he works as a vocal coach. According to his profile at Linked.in, he is "General Manager / Music Director at School of Rock".
Brett Stowers (until 2011 on drums) and Matt Langley (keyboard) formed "Erstwhile" with former members of Edgewater and Low Gear and released their first album in October 2018. Since the pages speak of "former members of ..." (ie "Former members of ..."), it stands to reason that Fair to Midland should be viewed as separate for the time being.
