Baba Njie

Momodou Bello N'Jie called Baba Njie (born November 13, 1969 in Gambia ) is a track and field athlete from the West African state of Gambia who specializes in the 800 meters , 1500 meters and marathons . Since 1993 he has held the national record in the marathon. He took part in two Olympic Games .

Olympia 1988

Baba Njie took part in a competition at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul :

  • In the 800-meter run , he was assigned to the fifth group on the first lap. Njie was seventh with 1: 55.57 minutes and could not qualify further.

Olympia 1992

Baba Njie took part in two competitions at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona :

  • In the 800-meter run , he should start in the fifth group on the first lap. However, since he was not present, he could not qualify.
  • In the 1500-meter run he missed the run- up due to a mistake by the organizers and was approved as an additional starter for the semi-finals. In the semifinals he reached 13th place with 4: 13.53 minutes and was eliminated.
