Elis was a Swiss - Liechtenstein symphonic metal band that incorporated elements of Gothic Metal , which emerged in 2002 from the band Erben der Schöpfung .

Band history

Elis was founded in 2002 when heir-of-the-creation founder Oliver Falk separated from the rest of the band. Although the remaining musicians kept the rights to the debut album Twilight , Falk was able to secure the naming rights. Under the new name "Elis", which comes from the first heir-of-the-creation single from 2001, the band signed a record deal with Napalm Records in March 2003 . With God's Silence, Devil's Temptation , the debut album of Elis was released in August 2003. Like Twilight , this album was recorded at Mastersound Studio with producer Alexander Krull of Atrocity and Leaves' Eyes . The album reached number 8 on the DAC charts. Problems with the naming rights came up again later. A French company banned the sale of T-shirts with Elis inscription for trademark reasons , as they had a range of products of the same name.

In 2004 the band released the album Dark Clouds in a Perfect Sky . In the same year, drummer Franky Koller left the band, who was then replaced by Max Näscher from Liechtenstein, who studied classical drums in Zurich . Guitarist Jürgen Broger also separated from the band in friendship. On July 7th, 2006 the singer Sabine Dünser suffered a cerebral haemorrhage during a band rehearsal , from which she died one day later in the hospital. After much deliberation, the band decided to move on with a new singer who was found on December 28, 2006 with Sandra Schleret from Siegfried and Dreams of Sanity . On May 8th 2011 it was announced on the band's homepage that Sandra Schleret is leaving the band. The new singer Simone Christinat was introduced on June 16, 2011 on the website.

On February 24th, 2012 the band announced on their homepage and Facebook that Simone Christinat is leaving Elis due to stress. The rest of the members would find it too difficult to start over after all the setbacks. For this reason, Elis announced the end of the band. The members Max Näscher, Peter Streit, Tom Saxer then founded in autumn 2012 with the soprano and Dystera singer Kathrin Schlumpf, and the Ekpyrosis bassist Chris Gruber, the band zirconium .
