Roterfeld is a rock band from Vorarlberg / Austria founded in 2011 around the singer and front man Aaron Roterfeld .

history

The band began as a "one-man project" in which Aaron Roterfeld produced the debut album Blood Diamond Romance with various well-known producers such as the Berman Brothers , Hiili Hiilesmaa and Frank Bornemann . On September 20, 2011, the first music video for the single Great New Life was released , ten days later the single was released . On October 14, 2011, the debut album Blood Diamond Romance was released .

With the song Stop , Roterfeld rose from zero to number 3 in the German club charts ( DAC ) and rose to number 2 in the following weeks. It was the highest chart entry ever achieved by an Austrian artist in the German club charts.

In late November 2011, the song was Great New Life of Twilight Magazine Vampire Chronicles for the cinema campaign for the film Breaking Dawn - bite the end of the night, part one selected, after which Aaron Roterfeld a Unplugged - Tour made by Austria and before the film screenings in cinemas Great New Life was playing. The tour took him through Innsbruck , Vienna , Graz , Salzburg and Linz . For the tour, he brought in guitarist Marc Filler, who had previously worked on the debut album. In addition, Roterfeld was voted first place as "Best Newcomer 2011" by the reader voting by Sonic Seducer .

On May 1st, 2012 the music video for Don't Be Afraid of the Dark was released . In this music video, in addition to Aaron Roterfeld, the musicians Marc Filler, Amandas Nadel, Thomas Pfaller, Andre Schwarz and Leandra Ophelia Dax can be seen, who were officially members of the live band from that point on. The band's live debut took place on June 6, 2012 in the Remise in Bludenz . This was followed by appearances at major events such as Nova Rock , Blackfield Festival , M'era Luna Festival , Summer Breeze and the Dark Storm Festival . Leandra Ophelia Dax did not perform with the band after the Summer Breeze Festival for unknown reasons.

At the beginning of 2012, Roterfeld was nominated for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award 2012 in the "Hard & Heavy" category.

style

Musically, Roterfeld is classified between dark rock and alternative pop . The album Blood Diamond Romance musically ranges from hard distorted guitar riffs to orchestral sounds and synthesizer sounds to purely acoustic songs. The Roterfeld songs are composed exclusively by Aaron Roterfeld. With one exception, Roterfeld's lyrics are in English. Roterfeld also published the song Don't Be Afraid of the Dark as a "German Version" in German.

Movie

From September 27 to 29, 2012, Roterfeld played the song “Great New Life” on the roof of the Vienna Sargfabrik for the film Edge Becs by the Viennese filmmaker Harald Huto . The independent film will be released in February 2013. Aaron Roterfeld also plays a small supporting role in the film, in which he meets the pop singer Falco in a fictional situation in Vienna's Drahdiwaberlgasse .
