Merlons Lichter was a music band from Erlangen . Previously she was also known as the Merlons of Nehemiah , The Merlons, and Merlons .

history

The band was founded in 1992 under the name Merlons of Nehemiah . While Merlon stands for Zinne , Nehemiah refers to the author of the Bible book of the same name . The debut album Cantoney contains production- related errors, which is why the band later distanced themselves from it. The album still got a certain amount of attention, as the incorporation of elements of medieval music was relatively unusual at the time.

The follow-up work Eluoami from 1994 reinforces this style, what the band called the Middle Ages Mystic Folk Crossover . The name was later changed to The Merlons and the article was even dropped, as German texts were increasingly devoted to. After the separation of the singer and sister of the band founder Antje Haensel at the beginning of 2000, a replacement was waived and the name changed again to Merlons Lichter the following year . In connection with this, other styles flowed into the music of the band, Merlon's lights now presented themselves much more guitar-heavy, rockier.

The band appeared in the opening act for Subway to Sally and Fiddler's Green , among others . Since their last release Lust in 2005, it has become quiet around the band, but front man and singer PG has been active with the Ignis Fatuu group since 2012 .
