The Cassandra Complex is a band founded in Leeds , England , whose musical work ranges between rock , electro punk and wave . The formation has changed frequently since its inception.

history

The early days (1983–1987)

In Northern Ireland -born Rodney Orpheus founded the band in 1982 with Paul Dillon and Andrew Booth. In 1984 the first two self-financed singles March and Moscow Idaho appeared . The latter is one of the band's classics today. On the subsequent European tour Dillon left the band and was replaced by John Marchini, Jez Willis and Keith Langley. This formation played the debut album Grenade in 1986 . The live album Feel The Width from 1987 documented the band's live potential. In the same year Orpheus moved to Aachen .

The successful years (1988–1993)

A number of other publications followed over the next four years. Orpheus moved to Hamburg in 1990. The line-up changed again. One of the newcomers was Volker Zacharias, singer and guitarist of the German music formation Girls Under Glass . Since then, Zacharias has been the only regular member of the band alongside Orpheus.

After 1994

In the mid-1990s the band became quiet. In 1995 the best-of album "Work 1.0" was released.

Shortly afterwards, Orpheus founded the side project Sun God together with Patricia Nigiani (Aurora Sutra, formerly active at Project Pitchfork ). He also worked on various projects with The Sisters of Mercy head Andrew Eldritch and discovered his interest in the Internet.

It was not until 2000 that a new album appeared with Wetware , the title of which referred to the genre Cyberpunk for the second time after Cyberpunx , this time to the novel Wetware by Rudy Rucker . The content of many texts reflected the magical-occult world of Rodney Orpheus, who is a high-ranking member of the Ordo Templi Orientis and the author of works on thelemic magic .

For 2007 Rodney Orpheus reactivated Cassandra Complex and the band has been performing live since then. At the Amphi Festival 2019 in Cologne a new album was announced that will be released on Spotify.
