Rabenschrey is a medieval metal band from Wuppertal ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

history

The band was founded in 2000 by Peter Wohlers ("Donar von Rabenschrey") and O'Connor. Lutes and drums initially formed the instrumental foundation, but singing was to play an important role. From 2008 electric guitars, bass and drums were also increasingly used, so that the style developed in a harder, heavy metal-influenced direction. From then on, the band no longer called their style “pagan medieval folk ”, but rather “metal age”.

In addition to the appearances on medieval markets typical for such bands , Rabenschrey also often plays in clubs and at festivals such as the Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2006 in Leipzig , Burgfolk Festival 2007 in Mülheim an der Ruhr , Hörnerfest 2008 in Brande-Hörnerkirchen , Veldensteiner Festival 2007, the Feuertal Festival in Wuppertal 2008, the M'era Luna Festival 2008 in Hildesheim , the Wacken Open Air 2009, 2011 and 2013, the Steiner Castle Festival 2010, the Ice Holy Night in Osnabrück and many more.

Rabenschrey is under contract with “Totentanz”, a label of the record companySoulfood ”. Your songs are GEMA-free and can be performed or broadcast publicly by anyone who has bought the sound carrier without the need for license payments.

On January 10, 2014, Rabenschrey announced that they would no longer perform for the time being. They leave it open whether this will lead to a final dissolution or just a longer break. The appearance at the Veldensteiner Festival in July 2014 thus became a farewell concert. The band is still working on the recording of the album MetalAlter; Production started in autumn 2014, the release date is open.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, the band announced on their website that they are "back on stage". An exact date or further information has not yet been disclosed.
