Eddie & The Showmen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eddie & The Showmen were an American surf band that formed in 1963 around Eddie Bertrand ( guitar ) and Dick Dodd ( drums ) in Palos Verdes , California and emerged from the Belairs .

biography

After Eddie Bertrand and the drummer Dick Dodd had fallen out with Paul Johnson over the direction of the guitar sound of the Belairs , they formed the band "Eddie & The Showmen" in 1963 , named after the new showman amp from Fender . While Bertrand wanted to adopt the guitar sound of a Dick Dale , Johnson stuck to the traditional sound of the Belairs. “Eddie & The Showmen” subsequently advanced to become one of the most successful live bands in the surf rock scene and were one of the few surf bands with a record deal with a major label. Their first single squad car is a standard of the genre. Although all other singles recorded good sales, "Liberty Records" did not release an album. During the British Invasion in the mid-1960s, the band broke up.

Eddie Bertrand has been an active musician again since 2007 and often appears with The Elimitors .
