The Godfathers are an alternative rock band from London , England .

history

The band was founded in 1983 as "The Sid Presley Experience". After their "incarnation", the band name was renamed "The Godfathers" in 1985, and in 1987 they received their first recording contract with Epic Records .

At that time, the music scene was not only electronically dominated in the United Kingdom and “The Godfathers” did not really fit into the contemporary picture with their heavily guitar-heavy, alternative rock. In particular, her best-known hit Birth, School, Work, Death could not go against the trend, as his rough lyrics did not go down well with disc jockeys and radio stations.

At the end of the 1990s the band fell apart. Some members founded together with Rat Scabies , the former drummer of the Damned , the group The Germans .

On January 10th, 2008 the first LP was released as a double CD ( Hit by Hit ) and the Godfathers got together again for concerts with the original line-up, but later there was a line-up change. The band has been touring regularly since then. At the end of 2010 the live album (including a DVD) Shot Live At The 100 Club was released .
