Julien-K is a synth rock band from the USA .
history
The band was founded in 2003 as a music project by orgy musicians Amir Derakh ( guitar , keyboard ) and Ryan Shuck ( vocals , guitar) and today also consists of Anthony "Fu" Valcic ( synthesizer , bass ), who replaced Brandon Belsky in 2010, and Frank Zummo ( drums , vocals), who replaced Elias Andra in 2012. So far Julien-K has released two studio albums, a remix album and four singles. In addition, Julien-K, in collaboration with Jun Senoue, contributed two songs to two video games in the Sonic the Hedgehog series by Sega : The first song, This Machine was used in Sonic Heroes and became the theme song for Team Dark ; the second song, Waking Up , was used as the theme song of the neutral endings in Shadow the Hedgehog .
The first studio album, Death to Analog , reached 10th place on Billboard Dance / Electronic Albums and 37th place on Billboard Heatseeker Albums . The single Kick the Bass ranked 24th on Billboard Dance / Club Play Songs . The song Technical Difficulties was used as the soundtrack in Transformers .
With Dead by Sunrise , consisting of Chester Bennington ( Linkin Park ), all former members of Julien-K and Anthony "Fu" Valcic, who at that time did not belong to Julien-K, the album Out of Ashes was produced October 20, 2009 was published worldwide. It was placed in the US Billboard 200 at number 29 and in the German album charts at number five. The single Crawl Back In also hit the charts.
The band is under contract with Metropolis and Level 7 . Dead by Sunrise is also distributed on Julien-K's Myspace page.
Due to the 2020 global corona pandemic, the band is increasing its presence on social media. Since April 2020, the Patreon social payment platform has been used more and more as a link to fans in conjunction with the Discord chat platform . In this way, the band can communicate with the fans via live streams despite the unusual concerts. Currently there are weekly events such as live cover sessions, explanations of the meaning and origin of songs previously determined by votes and general band updates.
