history

Musical project (2003-2005)

Krypteria was founded in 2003 as a musical project by producer and guitarist Christoph Siemons , author Wolfgang A. Link and drummer and singer Michael "SC" Kuschnerus. Together with the singers Sylvia González Bolívar , Mirko Bäumer, Katharina Debus , David Michael Johnson, Cosima Russo and the actor Hans-Martin Stier , the musical double album Krypteria was created , which musically translates the story of a fantastic love story. On October 25, 2003, Sylvia González Bolívar performed the title song of the album Liberatio in the ARD Saturday evening program Pisa - The country test by Jörg Pilawa in front of over eight million television viewers.

After the flood disaster of December 26, 2004 , the RTL family of channels selected the song Liberatio in the version with Sylvia González Bolívar as background music for their appeal for donations. On January 10, 2005, the song was released as a benefit single, which entered the German single charts at number 3. All income from the sale of the single also went to aid organizations.

Band foundation (2005)

Ji-In Cho at the M'era Luna Festival 2007

Due to the great success of the single Liberatio, the band Krypteria formed from the former musical project in early 2005 with Ji-In Cho as singer, Christoph Siemons as guitarist, Frank Stumvoll as bassist and SC Kuschnerus as drummer. With Ji-In Cho the song Liberatio was quickly re-recorded and also released. The band no longer considers the Liberatio albums to be part of the official discography. On July 25th, 2005 the first band album In medias res was released . In early 2006 this album was also released in Asia , where it reached number 1 on the Korean charts. In addition to the original version by Victoriam Speramus, it contains a version with Korean stanzas. According to Krypteria, the text is identical in content.

Krypteria contributed the Korean sung title Na Ga Ja as a support anthem for the Korean soccer team at the 2006 World Cup in Germany. This title is represented, among other things, on the EP Evolution Principle released on August 4, 2006 .

On the same day the band made their debut at the hard and heavy festival Wacken Open Air . A few weeks earlier, Krypteria appeared as the opening act for Deep Purple for some German dates as part of their Rapture-of-the-Deep world tour. In December 2006, Krypteria went on a tour of Germany with Subway to Sally .

The albums Bloodangel's Cry (January 2007) and My Fatal Kiss (August 2009) followed.

Since the beginning of 2010 Olli Singer has replaced the guitarist Chris Siemons on all live performances. Siemons, who can no longer tour due to ongoing health problems, remains a permanent member of the band.

On April 22, 2011, the album All Beauty Must Die was released . The first single was called You Killed Me and was released on March 3rd. On May 13, 2011, on the occasion of the German championship of Borussia Dortmund, the master anthem was published in cooperation with the BVB Century Choir. This consists of two songs, which had already appeared on All Beauty Must Die and were underlaid with new lyrics for the master anthem .

Based on a video published on YouTube in late 2005 by the Taiwanese guitarist "JerryC", who rearranged the canon in D major by Johann Pachelbel , Krypteria released the single Canon Rock on July 22, 2011 .

Inactivity (2012)

In August 2012, the band announced they would be taking a break due to the pregnancy of singer Ji-In Cho.

While the band was inactive, bassist Frank Stumvoll was commissioned in 2015 to compose and produce a soundtrack for the German-American thriller "Bad Trip". In order to fulfill the order, he got his companions from Krypteria, SC Kuschnerus (drums) and Olli Singer (guitar) to support this project. After singer Ji-In Cho joined the project, the band " And Then She Came " was founded in 2016 and released their first album of the same name on June 24, 2016. According to the band, it is not a Krypteria successor band and the music style should differ from that of Krypteria. While Krypteria was in the field of “Symphonic Metal”, “And Then She Came” describes their music as “Modern Rock”.

The musical

The musical Krypteria tells the story of the young lovers Erik (Mirko Bäumer) and Melissa (Katharina Debus), who receive an amulet from an old man. A short time later, Melissa is killed. Erik goes into the world of "Krypteria", the world before final redemption (Magnavia). Hundreds of souls are waiting there to finally take the path to Magnavia. The gate at which this path begins was sealed by three curses, pronounced by Vrakulus Mortok (Michael "SC" Kuschnerus). With the help of the old man and the wise Lisette ( Sylvia González Bolívar ) they want to break these seals. However, this is not that easy, because the initially friendly Gula (Cosima Russo) runs over to Vrakulus Mortok. However, the amulet of the old man Bragu (David Michael Johnson) reveals how the curses can be broken. And so begins a magical journey.
