The Metal Days is a Metal - Music Festival , which takes place since 2013 under the motto "What Else Matters?".

The festival began in 2002 under the name Metal Fest as a one-day festival in the Arena , Vienna . In the following year it was extended to two days. Since no suitable location could be found in Austria the next year, the festival moved in 2004 under the new name Metalcamp near the Slovenian town of Tolmin , where it has since taken place in the Julian Alps National Park on the Soča and Tolminka rivers and continues to grow . In 2005 the festival was extended to three days, in 2007 it already lasted a week, with five days of incidental music being planned. According to the organizers, around 10,000 visitors were present in 2009. The festival was organized by the Austrian promoter Rock The Nation and the Slovenian organizer Master of Metal.

The festival has been taking place under the name MetalDays since 2013 . The area and the duration of the festival remained the same. ArtFest is the new organizer.

In addition to a large stage for international bands, there is also a talent stage for smaller, often still unknown bands, most of which come from Austria , Slovenia, Italy and Serbia . This took place under the name New Forces during the festival until 2019 . From 2020 the New Metal Festival will take place directly before the MetalDays instead.
