Chronosphere is a Greek thrash metal band from Athens , founded in 2009 under the name Homo Sapiens .

history

The band was formed in 2009 by guitarist and singer Spyros Lafias and bassist Kostas Spades. In 2010 a first demo called Hypnosis was recorded at Made in Hell Studios , the group still calling themselves Homo Sapiens at the time. In addition to the title song, the demo contains four other songs. In 2010 and 2011 the band took part in the first and second volume of the sampler of the Manifesto Music Movement, of which the group has been a member since 2010. In 2011 the debut album Envirusment was recorded at Esoteron Studios . The recordings started in April and lasted three months. The album consists of eight songs plus two bonus songs taken from the previous demo. The release took place in 2012 on Athens Thrash Attack Records . For each of the mentioned releases, the band had performed at various festivals, such as the Metaldays or the Wacken Open Air , and had tours through Greece. She had performed with Sodom , Rotting Christ , Suicidal Angels and Evile , among others . She also took part in a tribute sampler for Metallica by the Greek Metal Hammer s. After the second album Embracing Oblivion was recorded in 2014 , the group signed a recording deal with Punishment 18 Records . However , the album was released on Spiritual Beast across Europe and Japan . The publication took place in 2014. The following year the group went on tour through Europe, which included 27 performances in eleven countries.

style

Manuel Liebler from Metal Hammer counted Chronosphere in his review of Envirusmnet to the new wave of Thrash Metal, although the group certainly resembled other bands like Fueled by Fire . In addition to mainly US Thrash Metal, influences from Punk ( Thrash in Cold Blood ), Rock ( Genetically Dtermined ) and Progressive Metal ( Light Leading Maze ) would be processed. Kostas Kiriakis from metal-temple.com also assigned the band to Thrash Metal on Embracing Oblivion . The songs would include fast riffs , wild solos, and aggressive drumming. The group sounds like a mixture of the early testament as well as overkill and exodus .
