Eventide is a death metal / progressive metal band from Gothenburg ( Sweden ). Their music is reminiscent of bands like Dark Tranquility and Opeth .

history

The band was formed in 1998. A year later, the band had enough money and songs to record their first demo, Caress the Abstract . The demo contains five songs and was recorded in the Los Angered studio outside Gothenburg. 300 pieces have been sold through their website . In 2000 the band recorded their second demo. Since the band had lost a lot of money with the first demo, the three new songs were distributed in MP3 format via their website. They also burned the three songs on CD-R and sent them to various record labels and magazines. Eventide were invited by In Flames to the release party of the Clayman album. When in 2001 there was still no record deal in sight, Åke Walleborn left the band. New members only stayed for a short time, and the band also made no progress in composing. The musicians decided to put the band on hold for a while. Some members became active in other bands at this time.

In December 2004, Jacob Magnusson and Max Seppälä decided to record a third demo due to the constant demand for the two previous demos. With Thomas Magnusson, the singer's brother, a new bass player was hired. Jones Sjölin took over the second guitar, but left the band after a short time for personal reasons. He has been replaced by Sebastian Olsson. The demo called No Place Darker brought the band a record deal with the German company Cartel Media. On January 26, 2007, the album Diaries from the Gallows was released . In April, Eventide announced on their website that their record company had disappeared and that they would now sell CDs and merchandising on their own.

In search of a new record company, Eventide recorded a new demo CD called Planet Plague , which was made available for free download on their website on January 7, 2008. After the band performed at the Alcazar club in Stockholm in December 2008, the band decided to write new material. In July 2009 the songwriting was completed and the recording in the band's own studio began. In September 2010, the self-produced album The Beast and the Machine was released , which further expands the more modern and compact direction indicated on the previous demo CD Planet Plague .
