The Vintage Caravan is an Icelandic rock band from Álftanes that was formed in 2006.
history
The band was founded in 2006 by the two 12-year-olds Óskar Logi Ágústsson (electric guitar, vocals) and Guðjón Reynisson (drums). Since 2009, the band members began to work more seriously on the project. The self-titled debut album followed in 2011. In early 2012, the band signed a contract with the Icelandic label Sena . In the same year Alexander Örn Númason also joined the band as bassist. In 2012, the second album Voyage was released via Sena . However , the band only made their breakthrough in the rest of Europe after Voyage was re-released on Nuclear Blast in early 2014. In 2014 the band played at the Roadburn Festival . A performance at the Wacken Open Air is also planned for 2014 . In April 2015, the band announced on Facebook that drummer Guðjón Reynisson had left the band for personal reasons and was replaced by Stefán Ari.

According to Fred Thomas from Allmusic , the group was influenced by classic rock , early metal , progressive rock and boogie-woogie . According to the band biography on the Nuclear Blast website, the band was influenced by classic hard rock of the 1960s and 1970s. According to laut.de , the band was heavily influenced by groups like Cream , Black Sabbath , King Crimson and Yes . laut.de described The Vintage Caravan's music as psychedelic blues rock. Thomas Kupfer from rock-hard magazine assigned the music to classic rock. In the review of Voyage by Phil Weller from scratchthesurface-webzine.com , the band can be classified with retro rock groups like Orchid , Graveyard , Blues Pills and Witchcraft . The group merges the music of Rush , Black Sabbath, Cream and Grand Funk Railroad . Manuel Latton (aka inhonorus) from Legacy magazine writes in his review of Arrival that the band is now finally pulling back the previous Led Zeppelin attitudes and placing more emphasis on their own strengths. He also praises the album as "a glowing star in the vintage rock sky".
